Conformed…
To…
The Image Of…The SON Part 2
FROM WHAT WE SAW LAST WEEK…
WE KNOW… THAT…
MAN is made up of Spirit… Soul and Body.
The Spirit… has been saved to the uttermost… by Him who is Savior TO THE uttermost….
The soul is being saved or… transformed…
by becoming aware of…and… desiring infilling and agreeing with God’s Word
regarding the salvation of the Spirit.
Romans
8:28–30
speaks to us about…
Con-form-ation… of the Spirit…TO…
The Image of…the Son of God…
It tells us…THIS…
And… we know that… all things…work together for good… for those… who love God… who are called according to his purpose…
BECAUSE…those whom he foreknew… he also… predestined to be conformed… to the image of his Son…
THAT…his Son would be the firstborn… among many brothers and sisters.
And… those he predestined…
he also… called…
And… those he called… he also justified…
And… those he justified… he also… glorified…
All things… work together for good… for… the man or woman… who suits this description…
1. He Loves God
2. He Is called according to His purpose…meaning GOD’S PURPOSE…
This immediately shows us… THAT …it doesn’t work well for all men and women.
Many are called… according to their own purpose …and… love…
NOT
GOD…BUT…the
world.
NOTE here…that some
translations…call present age… ‘ present world’… which many theologians point
out to be… the Jewish age in the
transitory phase…which is… The time of reformation…
IT’S important that we see… NOW…Paul… telling US… WHY all things work for good…
Because… in the foreknowledge of GOD…HE predestined US… to be conformed to the image of His Son.
THAT…His Son… would be…the firstborn among many brethren.
Two words are key from these points…
Conformed
and Firstborn
The word Conformed is a translation of the Greek word summorphous… which means… to bring to the same form… with...
To be conformed… IS…
To be brought into
the same form …as a model…
AND…most importantly…
into UNION WITH the MODEL itself…
BECAUSE…Conformation can NOT be
possible… without UNION…
Our EVIDENCE:
IS FOUND by the prefix sum in the Greek Word… summorphous which
means… “together with”.
THIS…Indicates that…GOD…would need two things to conform man… to the Image of the Son.
1. HE will need to join man eternally to His Son Jesus Christ
…AND…
2. HE would need A MODEL… to bring man to the same form…with the Son… to make them compatible for union.
Jesus Christ taught the doctrine of union during His earthly ministry… where He spoke of joining OLD WINE SKINS WITH NEW WINE SKINS… or… the MIXING of new wine and old wine…which also speaks of the fruit of union… experienced in… the partaking of…
The life

SO… IT IS…WITH THE RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD...
WHAT IS SOWN… IS PERISHABLE… WHAT IS RAISED… IS… IMPERISHABLE…

JUST AS WE HAVE BORNE THE IMAGE OF THE MAN OF DUST…
WE SHALL… ALSO BEAR… THE IMAGE… OF THE MAN OF HEAVEN…

THAT… I MAY KNOW HIM… AND… THE POWER OF HIS RESURRECTION… AND… MAY SHARE HIS SUFFERINGS… BECOMING LIKE HIM… IN HIS DEATH . . .

AND… WE ALL… WITH UNVEILED FACE… BEHOLDING THE GLORY OF THE LORD…
ARE BEING CHANGED… INTO HIS LIKENESS… FROM ONE DEGREE OF GLORY… TO ANOTHER…
FOR THIS… COMES FROM THE LORD… WHO IS THE SPIRIT.
So my friends…
The aim of predestination…
as it relates to our good… IS THAT… WE are
appointed to share… the very GLORY OF THE RISEN CHRIST both morally… in
blameless righteousness
… and…
Physically… in a resurrection BODY… of GLORY… like HIS…
This destiny… IS… the "glorification" of verse 30 ("those whom he justified… he glorified") …and…
IT’S under way… RIGHT NOW… Where?
IN ALL of the CHILDREN OF GOD!…
AS WE look into the face of
Christ… in the gospel…
…and…
are changed… from one degree of GLORY… to ANOTHER… by the POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT…
So… What’s the Aim of Predestination for Christ's Glory?
Well…GOD’S ULTIMATE GOAL IN THE ETERNALLY PREDESTINED PLAN of SALVATION…does NOT terminate on humans.
It terminates…on… The Son of GOD...
His GLORY has precedence over OUR GLORY. The glory of the pre-eminence …

Christ… IS…the Ultimate Goal of Predestination.
FOR…
THOSE WHOM HE FORE-KNEW… HE…ALSO PREDESTINED…
TO BE CONFORMED… TO…HE IMAGE OF HIS SON…
IN ORDER THAT… HE… MIGHT BE…
THE FIRST-BORN…
AMONG MANY BRETHREN…
GOD appointed US to share the greatness of the Son… SO THAT… the Son might be …Exalted… As the Greatest Among The Great.
GOD destined US to share Christ's Glory… In Order THAT…the Glory of the Son… might be magnified… In the Countless Mirrors of Those who are Conformed to HIS Image.
LISTEN CLOSELY HERE…
GOD created… a second-born…and… a third-born… and… a millionth-born… SO THAT… Christ might be EXALTED…

SO…When the people of GOD…
are set free from the compulsion of…
self-exaltation…
self-justification

self-preservation…
SO THAT …
WE LIVE… for the ETERNAL GOOD OF OTHER PEOPLE…
THEN… WE BECOME…
The LIGHT of the WORLD

The SALT of the EARTH
… and…
people NOTICE IN US…
The reality of GOD… and… GIVE HIM GLORY…
OUR EVIDENCE:
Therefore… if God's purpose for us…
IS TO BE accomplished… in this world…
In order to make known HIS GLORY…
through lives of LOVE…
THEN… we must find a weapon…
with which to conquer the pride
… and…
Insecurity… THAT… feeds our need…to
Exalt Ourselves…
Justify Ourselves…
And
Preserve ourselves…with postures…poses…
performances and prosperity
YOU SEE…The weapon that GOD...
has put into the hands of HIS PEOPLE… IS…
The Promise of Romans 8:28…
"We know… that all things…
work together for good… for those who love God…
to those who are Called… according to HIS purpose"
The heart-felt
confidence… that… God Almighty causes everything… that…happens to me… to be
good for me… IS… the SWORD…THAT… severs the root of
self-exaltation…
self-justification
… and…
self-preservation.
As verse 31 says…
"If God is for us… WHO… is against us?"
If… by the sheer GRACE of GOD’S sovereign WILL…
HE has taken YOUR side… and… works all the …
pain …and… pleasure together for Your Good…
THEN…NO opponent can or will… succeed against YOU.
So why Exalt yourself?
Why Justify yourself?
Why fret about Preserving yourself?
If the LORD of the UNIVERSE…
has SWORN to WORK FOR YOU…
why are you anxious about what others think?
Why are you all caught up
in seeking comfort and security?
Your Father knows what you need… and…
He works everything for YOUR GOOD.
Leave your Exaltation … Justification… and Preservation
in HIS SOVEREIGN HANDS…
… and…
LIVE IN FREEDOM…FOR OTHERS…
When God's chosen people really believe Romans 8:28…
THEN… from measles to the mortuary…
THEY are the Freest … Strongest and Most Generous
People in the WORLD.
PLEASE…LISTEN CLOSELY
If Romans 8:28 …is THAT POWERFUL in DAILY LIFE…
THEN …its foundation… is utterly practical…
Romans 8:29–30 IS… THAT … foundation.
The better we understand it…and…
the more deeply we believe it…
the more assured we will be OF Romans 8:28.
And… THAT…will make US a very strong
and loving people … to the glory of God!
We are going forward here to discuss
God's Calling and Predestination…
Our focus at this juncture…IS…
on the first sentence in verse 30…
"And those whom he predestined… he also called."
We’ve zeroed in on the meaning of our "call"
and the meaning of "predestination."
So NOW… I want to focus on
the connection between these two.
But first… let's sum up our conclusions…
from what we already have seen.
Romans 8:28 says THAT…
All things… work together for the good…
of those… who… "are called according to
his purpose."
What does it mean to be called?
It means that GOD… has overcome the rebellion
of our hearts… and… drawn US to Christ… and
created faith and love… where there was
once a heart of stone.
The call is effectual.
It creates what it commands.
It’s not like… "Here Spot! Here Spot!"
What it IS LIKE…IS…
"Lazarus… COME FORTH…!"
… or… "Light BE!"
BECAUSE… YOU SEE…The CALL happens…
in the preaching of the Word of God…
by the power of the Spirit of God.
It overcomes all resistance… and produces the faith that justifies.
One of the key evidences for this truth…
was the sentence in verse 30…
"those whom he called… he also justified."
Only people with faith are justified.
BUT… Paul says… THAT the called… are justified.
So… the call … must in some sense… guarantee the faith.
IT’S plain…that… The call IS…
the creation of the faith.
Therefore… ALL who are called …
are absolutely justified.
The other thing we have seen so far IS… that this call IS NOT somehow… a response to anything WE’VE done.
Verse 28 says we are called "according to HIS purpose."
His purpose and plan… is the basis of our CALL…NOT our purpose or plan.
This purpose is described in verse 29…. And I want you to Notice at the beginning of verse 30… THAT our CALL IS… based on our predestination…
"Those whom HE predestined… HE… ALSO… CALLED."
So… the phrase… "called according to God's purpose" in verse 28… IS virtually the same… as…CALLED on the basis of God's predestination… in verse 30.
His predestining…and…HIS purposing are the same.
And… its content is given in verse 29:
"Whom HE foreknew… HE also predestined… to be conformed… to the image of his Son… in order that…
HE (HIS SON-JESUS) might be the first-born… among many brethren."
The purpose for which we are predestined… IS… to share the glory of the pre-eminent Son of God.
This purpose or predestination is traced back… finally… to an act of foreknowing:
"Whom he foreknew…HE also predestined."
This doesn’t mean that God bases his predestination
on OUR SELF-DETERMINED faith… which HE knows ahead of time.
THAT interpretation is intended to preserve the self-determination… of the human will.
BUT…we’ve already seen that faith is produced by the CALL of God… NOT by an act of human self-determination.
Instead… what we saw was… THAT… there are many other texts to show that When God foreknows… HE sets his favor upon …or… acknowledges or chooses.
So… the meaning of verse 29 IS… THAT … "Whom God freely chose… or… whom God freely set HIS favor upon … HE ALSO predestined to be like HIS Son… and… whom HE predestined… HE CALLED."
So… the CALL of God…IS… based on
God's act of predestination… which IS… in turn…
based on… The election… or…CHOICE …THAT GOD makes…
without any respect to our distinctive talents…or… attributes…
AT ALL…
The practical upshot of this IS…THIS…
IF GOD has chosen YOU before the foundation of the world… apart from… any merit or distinctive talents or attributes in YOU…
AND… has appointed for YOU… a destiny of glorious Christ-likeness…
…And…
to bring about THAT purpose…
HE has Called you by creating faith toward Christ…
and LOVE toward GOD… and thus… qualified you…
FOR… the promise of Romans 8:28…
THEN… isn’t your confidence in this promise…
far greater…THAN… if it simply rested on something
as wavering and uncertain as YOUR WILL… and…DECISION?
"Called according to his purpose" IS… the great ground of confidence…The Eternal EVIDENCE… THAT…Romans 8:28 IS… really TRUE for US…

We thank you now… as these elements of the covenant… become our portion… of His Healing body … and the vibrancy of HIS life… within us…
We thank you…that… as we partake of the BODY OF CHRIST…The BREAD OF HEAVEN… we become healed and made whole... completely restored...
We thank you…that…this beverage… becomes our portion… of His cleansing blood…
That we are constantly washed in the waterfall of His precious blood… and…renewed within… as we continually remember His act of love on the cross… on our behalf.

When Jesus went
to the cross… and… conquered... sin… hades and…death…HE
FINALIZED THE PLAN
OF GOD…BY Triumping over satan…
JESUS… THROUGH THE FATHER… stripped satan of ALL of THE STOLEN God-gifted powers …Given to Adam on God’s Breath….
JESUS...AGAIN… THROUGH THE FATHER… THEN… restored…
and re-activated The RESURRECTION POWER…WITHIN US

THOSE POWERS are grouped under THE BLESSING…
So…JESUS restored US to THE BLESSING.
The scriptures tell us… In 1 Peter 5:8 that… satan…OUR ADVERSARY… NOW … ROAMS ABOUT…LIKE a roaring lion… looking for whom he may devour.
THAT…“ WHO” …MY FRIENDS…
IS…
Anyone who believes that satan HAS power…
HOWEVER…God’s word says… that…satan no longer has ANY POWER…

SO…As a born again believer satan no longer has any power over YOU…
So this feckless…devil…
satan… Roams around roaring LIKE A LION…in language
that you understand…
in order to FRIGHTEN YOU… into believing… THAT… he is ALL powerful…and… to give you the impression… that… He… is even more powerful than ALMIGHTY GOD...
LISTEN CLOSELY NOW These are the only things satan can do… since JESUS through the Father… stripped him of ALL power.
He can …
Distract you...move your focus off of the things of God… by tempting you… to agree… with what you see with the physical eyes and hear with the physical ears in this natural world.
IF … you
succumb to that temptation… you will
begin to FOCUS…on the cares of this world…

Deceive you...He is the father of all lies…and liars… he’s extremely stealthy… in tempting you with his disceptions.
HOWEVER…
Here’s the real truth that you need to see…in this…
satan will always attack you where
you lack knowledge and understanding of God’s Word.
So… let’s say that you lack knowledge and understanding of what God says …about… healing…
THEN… satan will attack you in your health… WHY? Because you have weakness there.

has NO POWER OVER YOU…
AT ALL!.
PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THIS…
The only thing he… CAN DO… is…
OFFER IT TO YOU…that is known as a temptation…
You make the choice in your response.
Remember…WE ARE ALWAYS IN SOME KIND OF FAITH… Everything we do… starts with a thought…then…we put action to it…and…
When we do that… it will become…
WHAT WE BELIEVE!
So… when the enemy offers you a temptation… here in the natural realm…
IF you take that thought… THEN… put action to it…you will receive the consequences…
SO…Do you accept the evil report and CHOOSE DEATH?…
Do you…Receive the sickness … the dis-ease or lack… by Agreeing with what the enemy is saying about you… here in the natural?… IF SO… you are agreeing with the picture that the enemy has painted for you to see… with your physical eyes… and… hear with your physical ears… and…
IT’S IN THAT AGREEMENT …THAT…you manifest the negative outcome.
OR…
Do you...CHOOSE LIFE
BY acknowledging the facts… that… you’re seeing in the natural realm…with your physical eyes…and hearing with your physical ears…
Which…are merely facts…
(anything in this natural world… is factoid…which means… it’s subject to change.)
THEREFORE…
YOU…
ONLY AGREE with what God’s Word …and
promises… say about you!
THAT MY FRIENDS …IS CHOOSING LIFE!
IT’S ONLY BELIEVING WHAT GOD’S WORD SAYS ABOUT YOU!
Now…I
know… you’re saying... “well I’m sick...
and I’m in pain.”
However…what you are doing is rehearsing the problem… and… speaking sickness…
and… pain into existence… in your body… and… life…
so that…they never go away
…and…
eventually those symptoms… may worsen…and…even… rob you of your life.
Remember…we are given God’s Creative Ability…His Resurrection Power as a gift…and… that’s the power to speak and have what we say come to pass immediately…just as God did when he created our world and US.
SO…Now…you know… THAT… because of a temptation from the enemy…YOU… are allowing lying symptoms to take over in your life…
BY WHAT YOU ARE SAYING…OVER AND OVER AGAIN…and THAT’S WHAT YOU ARE EMBRACING
By agreeing with the lying symptoms…of pain suffering …
I want you to see this…
satan only suggested… that you listen to…and… see… that convoluted picture he painted… complete… with audio…
So…those symptoms… and… painful things…
MAY BE torturing you…
However… they… are STILL… just LYING SYMPTOMS…AND…
THEY were sent to you…by the enemy… as a GIFT…
TO tempt you… into believing his evil report
…and…
WHEN you DO…
the pain… and… sickness manifest… and… continue to do so … as long as you keep THINKING IT…which is coming into AGREEMENT WITH IT…
AND SO…
KEEP REHEARSING THE PROBLEM…
KEEP SAYING IT…
IF that’s what’s been happening to you… THEN…you’re in agreement with the enemy.
Remember this…
The enemy always works from the outside in.
God always works from the INSIDE OUT.
Where God IS… the enemy… simply CAN NOT BE.
Some will say… we’re in denial…
